MY TEAPOT "OBSESSION"

...when I joined the 2010 Quilt Along, Jeanne did not know about my teapot collection!!!...hm...this is just a few of the teapots I have collected. Many are miniature (so my dolls can have tea of course). Many teasets are still in their boxes, as I just have too many and I am running out of display area.
My love of teapots has existed for many yeas...need I wonder why I am so excited about this teapot quilt along, as I not only love teapots, I love quilting. What an excellent idea to add a teapot related wall hanging to my collection. And I guess you must have noticed all these teapots have roses on them. Perhaps now you will understand where my inspiration for this quilt along is coming from.

Thanks Jeanne for inviting me to your group. What a joyous Tea Party we are going to have!
PS...now I hope my maid does some dusting soon as those 'killer dust bunnies' are multiplying just like rabbits.

...take care,
cheryl (C:

2010 QUILT ALONG - TEA AND COFFEE RELATED

It's official. Jeanne's 2010 "Quilt Along (subject Tea/ Coffee)" has started! And we now have 17 members signed up on Flickr. Discussions have started and our creative and talented administrator is recruiting many wonderful members, comments, free patterns, inspiration and exciting plans for the group!

I have been collecting teapot designs for years and I am very excited about this project, I just may have to make two quilts! I can't wait to see all the buzzing and excitement ...you know what all us quilting coffee and tea lovers can chat about while we are sipping our favorite beverage. Yes we can quilt and drink tea at the same time...(well almost). If you have an idea or are interested in joining this group, please feel welcome to check us out! Drop by for a cuppa!

Many of the members have been posting links to wonderful inspirational websites and patterns...yes one can enjoy EYE CANDY here too!

Just wait to see WHO, WHAT AND WHEN the first teapot block will be posted! Finish up your 2009 WIP's and start something NEW in 2010.

And my saying for the day is:

"A great way to warm up those cold winter days is QUILT and sip a hot cup of tea...?"

I have already learned lots about `high`tea and hope to learn more!

ANYONE INTERESTED IN A TEAPOT RELATED QUILT ALONG

Would anyone be interested in doing a quilt along? Another member, Jeanne in the Flickr "A Tisket A Tasket" Block of the Month was asking me if I would be interested as we both found we love teapots! As an invitation to other members who may be interested in joining the Flickr "All About Applique" group, Jeanne provides more details HERE:

I have some ideas to design my own teapots and there are some wonderful teapot (or coffee pot) patterns available online. Some great links to teapot pattern sites are here:

LINKS TO TEA RELATED APPLIQUE PATTERNS:

1. Bunny Hill - Cream and Sugar

Nine blocks of tea cups and sweet things.

2. Kay Mackenzie's Pattern site is: http://www.quiltpuppy.com/bookshop.html

A photo of Kay's teapot patterns is at the top of this post. If you want to ORDER, please click the photos.

Please join in the fun. I can't wait and may even design my own 'cup of tea' block while I am waiting...stay tuned.

QUOTES OF THE DAY:

A nice cuppa to warm away the winter blues.

Block 11 - Bunny Hill A Tisket A Tasket Block of the Month

I'm exhausted...but let's GIVE THANKS!
PS DH, Tom made me do it! I really intended this turkey's wings to be praying (with his eyes SHUT..) but my DH, Tom (yes Tom is a turkey too sometimes) wanted me to add the eyes instead!
I don't have blanket stitch on my sewing machine so used zigzag. This block was a 'learning' experience for me, but fun. The basket is hand applique, but the turkey and gourd are fussy cut and fused, then machine stitched. Now back to my 'boring' hand applique...
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Jumping in with both feet?

I was checking my favorite blogs this morning, and something attracted me to Gerry's blog. I am always inspired by her work and needed inspiration to start something new. I was feeling my Block of the Month was drawing to completion and I needed another project to motivate my insatiable creative juices?

Well, I guess I jumped in with both feet! I wanted to join Robin Atkin's Bead Journal Project ever since I saw a beaded project posted on the internet several years ago. I was consumed with beads when I started CQ embroidery and another member purchased the last book on beaded Embroidery! I also heavily embellished my hand applique block in August and felt a compulsion to pursue this hobby. I really needed another hobby! but the weather here is already cold and I intend to hiberante through the cold! Surely I have time for another WIP!

Please check out these beaded projects here:

I enjoyed checking out the gallery and drooled at several of the projects members completed during the years. Well worth the time to go browsing through the gallery...now I am keeping my fingers crossed my registration will be accepted.

Dreaming with my eyes open?

As I turn the calendar to a new month, I ponder what my posts for the month will be as I am sure you must grow weary of my craft posts.

I have been anticipating a new project for my quilting class on Friday. I had some custom orders to fill and have left my quilting aside. The pattern everyone is doing is really nice, but I have such outdated fabrics and wonder if my fabris will be 'worth the effort'. Then do fabrics ever outdate themselves? I still love the 30's quilt fabrics!

My stash includes 'numerous' blue celestial fabrics I had collected for my Millennium Quilt and what ever happened to that quilt...I wish I could find it! I had assembled approximately five blocks for my Millennium Quilt, but that was TEN years ago! I must admit, I have too much fabric and really need to organize it better. I had all my colors sorted and stored in my cupboard here in my spare room, but the cupboard literally fell apart, the fabric too heavy for the construction of that lousy cabinet! I have since been moving all my fabrics to another cupboard...a slow process. Perhaps my dream of having my own sewing room will come true.

Alas...I decide to wait 'patiently' for the release of our FREE pattern on November 5th for 'A Tisket a Tasket' ...THANK YOU ANNE SUTTON FOR THESE WONDERFUL DESIGNS!

Out comes my mystery cross stitch project closest WIP nearing completion!
